I am so glad. But, it is January 2nd and I am in a bit of a New Year’s fog.

I did see that the new head of the UN (the world’s most dangerous worthless organization) has said the Iran and NK will be focus areas for the UN.

That should be joyous news to all in Japan. With the UN handling negotiations with a madman armed with nukes a few hundred miles from my border, I’d be celebrating.

But, I am sure 2007 will be very interesting and I look forward to insights from Japan on TransPacificRadio.com.

Well, I always thought that some terrorist organization, or maybe the KKK, was the world’s most dangerous worthless organization, but maybe the UN is up there too.

But, as you say, I doubt much will happen on NK. Thanks China! And on Iran. Thanks Russia!

I don’t think the U.N. is useless at all. I think its got its problems because the members of the permanent security council are themselves the biggest purveyers of firearms and weapons… Of course thats just one example.

But never the less, it does do a lot of great things in the world. The least of which perhaps is it gives home that we humans could actually possibly work together.

Alex, I’m not ready to count the UN out either, but if it’s our hope for the future, it doesn’t look like humans are going to be working together very well.

Ken, the UN may have the best of intentions and a noble goal, but, even in that, it’s mre dangerous than the KKK, which is impotent now that your average black man can read and isn’t afraid of a white man in a sheet who can’t.

I’m mulling this over, though. I’d say, even though I know I’m drifting far from what Cal was aiming for, that the UN or the government of powerful countries, such as the US, would be strong contenders for “most dangerous” largely due to the drastic, unintended consequences of their actions.

The KKK is an example that came off the top of my head, and I still think it’s a good one since an offensive amount of racism still goes on - it’s those sorts of power structures that I think are dangerous, far more dangerous to the average person than the UN is (though the UN is dangerous, which is why I still don’t agree with Cal’s comment)

At any rate, I think Alex has a good point. Think of how dangerous the US, Russia and China are (Sorry Britain and France…I wouldn’t leave the bar if you guys showed up drunk and angry). Then put them in the same club where they have massive amounts of geopolitical power. Interests other than what really should be done tend to get in the way.
