The unanswered, and perhaps unanswerable question, is what would have happened had Steel Partners not been foreign.

Oji Paper. The 'foreign' angle of it all is relevant, but overplayed. Might the judges have made a different decision? Doubtful. That would have left the door open for the foreign fund to pull off the same thing.

You guys forget the funniest/saddest part of G.communications' offer to rehire or re-employ all of Nova's employees, which was to offer some of them jobs in izakaya managed by G. Not only is it a ridiculous offer, but illegal considering the visa status of most Nova teachers. Just one more example of the obvious lack of a plan for the former Nova.

Great chat about Steel Partners, too. The unanswered, and perhaps unanswerable question, is what would have happened had Steel Partners not been foreign. Any thoughts?

[...] The BizCast Japan “Top 7 business stories of 2007″ has been released on Trans-Pacific Radio. Actually, it was released about a week ago, but we neglected to promote it here. In the program, Albrecht Stahmer and I discuss some of the biggest issues and trends that we saw in Japan in 2007, and speculate on how they might play out in the future. Have a listen over at Trans-Pacific Radio. [...]
