OMG this is awesome, I ordered one.

Man, I want to know all the details of how to start a business in Japan. I long for your wisdom.

I think I’ve dealt with the trainee visa before. The “information blackouts” are sometimes, for my group at least, complicated by misinformation as well. I’ve heard volumes about this stuff, but I feel like I really know nothing.

Nice questions, guys - I wish I had asked them. It’s a compelling argument about devoting resources to a minority, but Debito makes the right counterpoint; you can’t just ignore a tax-paying member of a society purely because of their deviation from the norm.

Still a little torn about the stance surrounding signs, though… propagation is a powerful argument, but I wish there were another way besides this “show and shame” tactic.

Hi,
There are several good points. The NJ needs this kind of helps, in that sense, the book is timely.
As for Higuchi, Debito says he is Shiou shoshi, but according to the book cover, he is gyousei shoshi.
Could you ask him which is correct?
In passing, it seems you guys have contacts with Debito, could you ask him why he has been blocking Japanese comments on his blog while he is against “Japanese only” shop? Does he think the shop is okay if it blocks NJ without the sign “J only”, without giving reasons?

Hi Turner. There really isn’t any other alternative than “show and shame”, ultimately. I’ve/we’ve tried every other tactic (as recorded in my book JAPANESE ONLY and in my reports on the Rogues’ Gallery of Exclusionary Establishments. And so has history. Debito

Ponta, I’m going to let that comment stand, but the second part of it is irrelevant and the whole thing kind of reads like a swipe at Debito. If you have a disagreement with Debito, you may take it up with him - he’s far from inaccessible. Any concerns regarding the blog on Debito.org belong on the blog on Debito.org.

It’s interesting that this book is written for Newcomers, Migrants, and Immigrants. I often find books written for tourists. So, it is rare. I want to know content of this.
