What's mentioned in that article, and in many other places, and has been for months is the contention that Fukuda's ineptitude could somehow lead to an early general election, or more specifically forece Fukuda to call an election at any moment.  I don't get that.</description>

There's a good, scathing article in this week's Economist about the disarray in Japanese politics. I wasn't aware of the names behind some apparently credible dissent within both parties. 

They also lash Fukuda for his total mishandling of the BOJ governor situation and point out that very reasonable alternatives to the candidates put forth by both parties have been available all along. (I haven't been able to listen to Seijigiri #42 yet to hear what TPR has to say about the fiasco).</description>
